Lisa Smith was born in Carriacou, Grenada and raised in St. Thomas U.S.V.I. She moved with her family to Central Florida as a teenager, where she did some modeling and fell in love with makeup. She went to fashion school in South Florida and later continued her education at the University of Florida and subsequently landed a career in Veterinary Medicine. Years into this field she realized she yearned for a change.

For many years, she studied her favorite makeup artists’ techniques and practiced makeup applications on friends and family. And with the encouragement of her peers, she ventured into her career as a makeup artist. She started by first purchasing a camera, applying makeup on friends and capturing their images for her portfolio. She used the images to find photographers to collaborate with for test shoots and worked on film sets around Central Florida.

Lisa subsequently relocated to Los Angeles, California to pursue her aspirations as a film makeup artist. Nearly two years after moving to LA she participated in an interactive editorial workshop and fell in love with the art of editorial makeup. Her new passion for photography led her to assisting a local photographer/makeup artist, who later became her mentor. She then pursued new aspirations to do both editorial makeup and beauty photography. By capturing her own images and understanding the way light affects the imagery of makeup, made her a more valuable artist on set.

Lisa continues to perfect her craft in makeup and photography while working on set and also doing her own editorial shoots for magazines.
